Mouth Guards
Mouth Guards in
Do you have trouble sleeping through the night? If you wake up feeling exhausted, there might be a dental cause behind your restless slumber. Teeth grinding and sleep apnea are both conditions that can disrupt sleep, causing you to feel sluggish and tired throughout the day.
Our night guard dentists want to help you achieve a full night’s sleep. Here’s what we can do to help.
Snoreguards
Snoreguards (Mandibular Advancement Devices) can assist with ‘tongue based’ wheezing. They work by moving the lower jaw (mandible) forward and holding it there during rest. This pulls the tongue away from the rear of the throat and soft palate and keeps the airway open. Your front teeth and your back molars are most at risk of grinding which erodes the lacquer and makes your teeth more fragile. This increases the chances of wearing dentures if the damage to your teeth is advanced.
Occlusal guards
These are dental appliances designed to protect your teeth from grinding or clenching. They fit over upper and lower teeth known as “nightguards” or “bite guards”.
Orthodontic Retainers
Retainers help “retain” the benefits of treatments previously gained, usually from braces, from shifting out of alignment.
