Family Dentistry FAQs

What ages do you treat?

We see patients across every stage of life, from a child’s first tooth through adult and older-adult care, in one office on Monroe Road in Southeast Charlotte. That is what family dentistry means here: the same practice can care for a toddler, a parent, and a grandparent without sending each person to a different clinic for routine and most restorative treatment.

Age-specific details (first-visit timing, sealants, fluoride) live on our pediatric dentistry page. Adult restorative and cosmetic dentistry options each have their own service pages linked above.

Can more than one family member be seen on the same day?

Often, yes. When you call, ask the team to look for same-visit or back-to-back openings. Coordinating siblings, or a parent and child, in one trip is one of the practical reasons families keep everyone in a single dental home.

Same-day pairing depends on the type of visit and what is open on the schedule. A routine cleaning for two people is easier to stack than two longer treatment appointments. If a true emergency comes in such as pain, swelling, or a knocked-out tooth, we prioritize that patient and reschedule the rest of the household if needed.

Does my young child need a pediatric specialist to start here?

Most children do not. Crown Point Family Dentistry is a family practice, not a pediatric-only specialty office. We routinely see infants, toddlers, school-age kids, and teens for exams, cleanings, fluoride, sealants, fillings, and other everyday care.

A pediatric specialist is worth considering when a child has complex medical needs, severe anxiety that requires hospital or specialist-level behavior management, or a problem outside what a general family dentist treats. If that is the better path, we will say so and help coordinate the referral. For a fuller comparison, read our article on the difference between family dentistry and pediatric dentistry, then use the pediatric dentistry page for child-specific services.

When my child becomes an adult, do they stay with the same dentist?

Yes. That continuity is the point of a family practice. Charts, X-rays, and treatment history stay in one place, so a patient who grew up here does not start over as a “new adult patient” at another office. Teens move from sealants and sports guards into adult preventive care, wisdom-tooth decisions, and, if they want it, cosmetic or restorative treatment with a team that already knows their mouth.

Can the whole household use the membership plan?

Yes, each person enrolls on their own dental plan. The Friends & Family membership is an in-house savings plan for patients who use this office, not an insurance policy and not a single family contract that automatically covers everyone.

There is a separate adult plan and a separate child plan. Plans are non-transferable between family members, cannot be combined with dental insurance, and are paid for the enrollment year. Preventive visits included in the plan must be used during that year. For current pricing, what is included, and how to join, see our dental membership plan page or call 704-847-4477.

Do you take dental insurance?

Yes. We work with many traditional dental plans for families who have coverage, and we help you understand what a visit is likely to include before treatment starts. If you do not have insurance, or if your plan leaves gaps, the in-house dental membership plan is the alternative for care at this office only.

We cannot stack membership discounts on top of insurance benefits. Bring your insurance card to the first visit so the team can check benefits. For a specific carrier question, call the office — plan participation can change.

What should we bring to a first visit for the family?

For each person being seen: a photo ID (parent/guardian ID for young children), insurance card if you have one, a list of current medications and medical conditions, and any recent dental X-rays from another office. If a child is coming, a parent or legal guardian needs to be present to review history and consent.

If several family members are new at once, tell us when you book. That lets the team set aside time and avoid a rushed first exam. Directions, parking, and the appointment form are on the Contact page. The office is at 9101 Monroe Rd #130, Charlotte, NC 28270, in the Crown Point business area of Southeast Charlotte.

What if someone in the family has a dental emergency?

Call 704-847-4477. Current patients with swelling, uncontrolled pain, a broken tooth, or a tooth that has been knocked out should tell the front desk it is urgent. We work existing family patients in as promptly as the day allows.

After hours, use the office voicemail number you are given as a patient. This is not an emergency room and we do not list overnight hospital coverage here. For facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, or for bleeding that will not stop, go to an emergency department first, then follow up with us.

New patients welcome.
